Alexandra Levi, managing partner and cofounder of Element Financial Group in New York City, is ambitious—and proud of it. When we sat down to talk (i.e., Zoom) with her about her business, the industry, and the challenges and opportunities for women, she emphasized that ambition isn’t a bad word. In fact, it’s just part of the secret to success for Alex and her business partner, JoanAnn Natola. Their team’s mission is to be the best at what they do—and authenticity in their interactions with clients is key. But as with most firms, the past year has been interesting, to say the least.

To celebrate Women’s History Month, our Valiant Women of Commonwealth series is shining the spotlight on women advisors who are turning obstacles into opportunities—and sharing their advice on how other women can do the same. In this conversation with Commonwealth’s Christin Clohosey, program manager in Practice Management, Alex talks about surprising efficiencies her team discovered in the virtual environment, where she envisions her firm will go next, and why she believes financial services is an amazing business for women. Watch the video to learn more about Alex’s story.
