A Community Built on Supporting Success

Pillars of Connection

Matt and Natalie at DEI Event

When we opened in 1979, we asked ourselves what it would mean to create a community we could all be proud of—one where we establish meaningful relationships, support and respect each other in pursuing our aspirations, and contribute to making a better world.

Since then, our goal hasn’t changed. Sharing strong connections in our community elevates all of our personal and professional successes. We’re proud to say that together, we continue to act on our initial vision with an advisor-centric culture, upheld by our three pillars of connection.

1. Connecting with Each Other

Community isn’t just where you live and work. It’s the circle of people around you, the people you choose to become your collaborators, confidants, and friends.

We believe that your success is everyone’s success. Whether you’re at a live conference with colleagues or on the phone with home office staff, you’re building your community.

Build personal connections through 8 conferences and more than 30 educational experiences.

That’s why we’re committed to:

  • Providing opportunities to network and share expertise with your peers

    • Meet high-profile, successful advisors representing every business model.

  • Creating and promoting personalized development programs

    • Efficiently align your personal and professional goals to drive your firm's growth.

  • Promoting acceptance and support for all

    • Our advisors welcome everyone to the table and are happy to share their insights, knowledge, and expertise.

When I see a new person that just joined Commonwealth, I say, welcome to the bright side. Egos are at the door. You can have that camaraderie and not the competition.

When we come together to share our knowledge and passion, we all win—and we’ll help you build your network and your firm, with unwavering support.

2. Connecting with Commonwealth

What is the Commonwealth culture? It’s hard to put into words. Our culture is what you feel—it’s our vibe, our people, our work ethic, and how we connect them all.

We’ve been rated the best place to work more than 40 times! Having engaged, happy staff leads to higher-quality interactions with you. It’s a win-win!

The qualities that set us apart from our competitors are the same qualities that benefit you:

  • Privately owned, so advisor needs, not shareholders, come first

  • Easy access to senior leadership that wants you to give valuable, actionable feedback

  • Our 2:1 advisor-to-staff ratio enables our team to be there when you need us

  • Highest gross revenue per advisor among independent broker/dealers means being surrounded by the best in the business to learn from and share best practices. [1]

I’ve always known that if I reach out, somebody will help. Sometimes it’s the Service Center, sometimes a senior person in a particular department will contact me, and twice the CEO has replied to my email. In what world does the CEO do that? That’s the culture and the community here.

And everyone at Commonwealth is committed to doing what they love, with colleagues and advisors who share their core business values, independent spirit, and calling to be indispensable to our advisors, your clients, and each other.

3. Connecting with Your Community

If charity begins at home, we’re glad our home is . . . everywhere. Serving the communities where we live, work, and visit is more than what we do, it’s part of who we are. And that doesn’t just mean our home office employees—our advisors and support staff embrace the same vision as well.

To make the most of our efforts, we formed Commonwealth Cares, a 501(c)(3) charity, in 2010, supporting a wide range of causes.

Recently, we’ve:

  • Donated 8,800 meals to neighbors in need

  • Raised more than $109,000 for the Ukrainian Red Cross Society

  • Provided 5,700 medical gowns to front-line workers

  • Raised more than $63,000 in support to NAACP empowerment programs

We not only support people, but we also support our environment. We’re committed to reducing our environmental impact and continuously improving as a firm. This includes: [2]

  • Saving 1.1 million pounds of wood

  • Saving 3.2 million gallons of water

  • Saving 2.6 million pounds of carbon

  • Eliminating 178,409 pounds of waste

We want you to join us and be an integral part of the Commonwealth family.
