Philanthropic partnerships that have endured for decades or random acts of kindness—serving the communities where we live, work, and visit is more than what we do, it's part of who we are.
Making a profound difference
Our giving back efforts run deep. They're ingrained into Commonwealth's mission and embraced by our home office employees, advisors, and advisor support staff. Together, we give our time, talent, and financial support to causes that make our world—or a corner of the world—a better place. To make the most of our efforts, we formed Commonwealth Cares, a 501(c)(3) charity, in 2010, supporting a wide range of causes.

Meeting the moment
We stand arm in arm with our communities in times of need and times of change.
In June 2020, Commonwealth employees came together to raise money for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Empowerment Programs, raising $63,000.
To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, skilled members of our home-office staff sewed more than 1,000 reusable masks to share with others in need. Commonwealth also sent disposable masks to 3,200+ advisors and employees.
Our home office family contributed funds to a virtual food drive, helping the Greater Boston Food Bank feed more than 8,800 neighbors in need.
The San Diego Foundation's COVID-19 Community Response Fund provides resources and support to the most vulnerable communities affected by the coronavirus. We were proud to extend the reach of their efforts by making a $50,000 donation.
In the wake of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, in March and April 2022, Commonwealth advisors and employees raised more than $109,000 in donations to the Ukrainian Red Cross Society to help Ukrainian people in need.
In April 2020, Commonwealth Cares made a donation to the Patriots Foundation to provide medical equipment for frontline workers. Our contributions alone purchased more than 5,700 gowns for hospital workers battling COVID-19.

Close to home
Commonwealth employees in our home offices in Waltham, Massachusetts, and San Diego, California, dedicate their hearts and time to helping those in our immediate communities.
At home with our advisors
No matter the size of their practice, our advisors embody Commonwealth's spirit of giving in their own hometowns. Sponsoring chili cook-offs and staffing 5K races, if charity begins at home, we're glad our home is . . . everywhere.
Our philanthropy is part of our fabric. We've always been progressive and empathetic when it comes to social impact. We believe we must make a profound difference in the communities in which we work and live.

In our homes away from home
We're fortunate to host our advisors, their families, vendors, and staff at educational conferences in communities the world over. In turn, we give thanks to our gracious hosts—attendees join forces to assist local and grassroots nonprofit organizations.
Making a profound difference drives Joe Deitch, our founder and chairman. That’s why it’s a part of Commonwealth’s mission, and why Joe recently created The Elevate Prize.
The mission of this philanthropic platform—a first of its kind—is to amplify the impact of innovators, activists, and problem solvers; drive change together; and ultimately awaken the hero in all of us. Learn more at The Elevate Prize website.
Causes we support
Here are just a few of the organizations we've had the opportunity to back through Commonwealth Cares and beyond. All operating and administrative expenses for Commonwealth Cares are borne by Commonwealth. One-hundred cents of every dollar contributed goes directly to the causes we support.
