Invest in Others Charitable Foundation Recognizes Commonwealth Financial Network® for Corporate Philanthropy
Waltham, MA (September 29, 2017)—Commonwealth Financial Network® announced that its Chemo Caps for Kids program was honored at the Invest in Others Awards, presented by the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation.
Commonwealth won the Corporate Philanthropy Award – Financial Institutions at the foundation’s annual event, held last night at Cipriani in New York City. Representatives from Commonwealth were joined at the event by Commonwealth advisor Scott Schutte and his son Beck, whose own journey inspired the Chemo Caps for Kids program.
Started in 2009, Chemo Caps for Kids began with a small group of employees knitting caps for children undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Today, it’s a program that stretches nationwide, with Commonwealth advisors, clients, friends, and family knitting caps, donating funds, and getting the word out. To date, more than 4,000 caps have been distributed through 15 different hospitals. This video tells the story.
Commonwealth CEO Wayne Bloom said, "While our Chemo Caps for Kids program was the specific activity that was highlighted, it could have been any of the dozens of initiatives that our team puts their hearts and souls into on behalf of others. For me, it just doesn’t get any better than this, and I thank each and every member of our community who helps us pay it forward."
Now in its 11th year, Invest in Others recognizes individuals and organizations for outstanding charitable initiatives and corporate philanthropy. Megan McAuley, executive director and president of the foundation, said, "The financial advice industry is no stranger to this kind of community service. . . . This year’s finalists and winners demonstrate what it’s like to use their skills and talents to serve those in need and address challenges in their communities."
