Commonwealth Financial Network

Events

It would be a bold (or even foolish) statement to claim that no other broker/dealer’s conferences compare with ours—if it weren’t true. Beyond attracting premier intellectual talent from the many disciplines important to your success, our conferences mix in ample doses of fun, camaraderie, and exclusive experiences—all in addition to the opportunity to explore and exchange ideas with hundreds of other financial professionals.

Giving Back
As part of our commitment to the communities in which we live and do business, Commonwealth also dedicates time at each of our conferences to participate in an organized volunteer program or activity sponsored by local agencies and organizations in the event’s host city. This offers a unique opportunity to help make a difference in the lives of others, while serving as an extraordinary team-building experience that we believe cannot be replicated in a typical professional setting. We are proud that in 2009 Commonwealth extended a hand to the following charitable causes: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando, Florida; Boys & Girls Clubs in Maui, Hawaii, and Orlando and Collier County, Florida; the Green Coalition of Ojai Valley, California; and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.

Chairman’s Retreat
Open only to those advisors who set and meet the most aggressive revenue goals for the year, the Chairman’s Retreat is structured as an intensive, high-level educational and social experience. Qualifiers, along with senior officers of Commonwealth and many of our industry partners, will go to business school during the day and delight in the very best the city has to offer in the evening. This program is tailored to individuals who have experienced significant success in their business and are intent on going well beyond. Chairman’s Retreat qualifiers are also invited to attend our Leaders Conference. The 2010 Chairman’s Retreat was held January 31–February 2 at the Mandarin Oriental in Boston, Massachusetts.

Incentive Programs

Known throughout our industry for delivering a distinctive experience in a spectacular location, each event is a first-class gathering that rewards top-tier advisors with a wealth of social, educational, and networking opportunities.

Educational Events
We encourage every Commonwealth advisor to take advantage of the many learning opportunities we offer throughout the year. Our National Conference is our signature event, attracting more than 1,000 attendees each year. But it’s just one of many gatherings we’ve created for the sole purpose of adding value to your business.
    National Conference
Every autumn we hold our National Conference, our largest educational program of the year. It features illuminating keynote speakers, in-depth wealth management sessions, marketing and practice development sessions, as well as incredible evening events and networking opportunities. We’re committed to providing the most comprehensive educational experience available in the industry. You’ll learn a lot and enjoy every minute of it. Our 2010 National Conference will be held October 27–31 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Arizona.

    Wealth Management Symposium
Whether your client base consists of middle-class folks, high-net-worth investors, or a mix of both, this program will offer strategies, concepts, and techniques for streamlining and expanding your practice and for distinguishing yourself from the competition. Our 2010 Wealth Management Symposium will be held June 1–3 at the Marriott Copley in Boston, Massachusetts.

    Summer Planning Workshops
This summer, Commonwealth will hold a coast-to-coast series of one-day meetings designed to provide in-depth education on building and growing a successful financial planning practice. A hands-on, interactive case study will help attendees fine-tune their own approach to planning. And you’ll hear from Commonwealth home office staff, as well as from fellow advisors, about their own financial planning processes.

Staff Professional Development
Training and retaining talented support staff is critical to the growth of your business. And the Commonwealth Institute exists solely for that purpose. We offer a number of professional development opportunities to help keep employees at all levels informed, engaged, and contributing to your organization’s success. Two of our most popular programs are:
    Commonwealth 101
This nuts-and-bolts course offers two full days of intensive learning to bring new employees up to speed. Attendees learn the critical information needed to perform their daily job functions and leave with a much better understanding of what is available from Commonwealth and how to best use our resources. You may also opt to have your team members attend additional specialized half-day workshops that dig more deeply into Commonwealth processes, including Commonwealth CRM, trading, and insurance. Commonwealth 101 is held every other month at our Waltham, Massachusetts, office and quarterly in our San Diego, California, office.

    Advanced Topics Symposium
Our annual staff event, styled on our annual National Conference for advisors, offers expanded content to empower support staff in all roles to take their learning to the next level. The conference offers sessions that draw on material presented at the year’s advisor-focused events and provides learning tracks for those who are in or who would like to grow into any of the following positions:

    • Paraplanner/analyst
    • Office manager
    • Sales/marketing support staff
    • Administrative assistant

Our 2009 symposium was held August 3–4 at the Marriott in Newton, Massachusetts.
