It would be a bold (or even foolish) statement to claim that no other broker/dealer’s conferences compare with ours—if it weren’t true. Beyond attracting premier intellectual talent from the many disciplines important to your success, our conferences mix in ample doses of fun, camaraderie, and exclusive experiences—all in addition to the opportunity to explore and exchange ideas with hundreds of other financial professionals.

Educational Events
We encourage every Commonwealth advisor to take advantage of the many learning opportunities we offer throughout the year. Our National Conference is our signature event, attracting more than 1,000 attendees each year. But it’s just one of many gatherings we’ve created for the sole purpose of adding value to your business.
    National Conference
Every autumn we hold our National Conference, our largest educational program of the year. It features illuminating keynote speakers, in depth wealth management sessions, marketing and practice development sessions, as well as incredible evening events and networking opportunities. We’re committed to providing the most comprehensive educational experience available in the industry. You’ll learn a lot and enjoy every minute of it. Our 2009 National Conference will be held October 22-26 at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando, Florida.

    Wealth Management Symposium
Whether your client base consists of middle-class folks, high-net-worth investors, or a mix of both, this program will offer strategies, concepts, and techniques for streamlining and expanding your practice and for distinguishing yourself from the competition. Our 2009 Wealth Management Symposium will be held March 8–11 at the Westin, in San Diego, California.

    Commonwealth Road Show
Each summer, Commonwealth holds a coast-to-coast series of one-day meetings designed to provide in-depth education on some of Commonwealth’s most timely initiatives. The aggressive agenda focuses on several key areas, including technology, research, investment management, advanced planning, compliance, and practice management.

Staff Professional Development
Training and retaining talented support staff is critical to the growth of your business. And the Commonwealth Institute exists solely for that purpose. We offer a number of professional development opportunities to help keep employees at all levels informed, engaged, and contributing to your organization’s success. Two of our most popular programs are:
    Commonwealth 101
This nuts-and-bolts course offers two full days of intensive learning to bring new employees up to speed. Attendees learn the critical information needed to perform their daily job functions and leave with a much better understanding of what is available from Commonwealth and how to best use our resources. You may also opt to have your team members attend additional specialized half-day workshops that dig more deeply into Commonwealth processes, including Commonwealth CRM, trading, and insurance. Commonwealth 101 is held every other month at our Waltham, Massachusetts, or San Diego, California, offices.

    Advanced Topics Symposium
Our annual staff event, styled on our annual National Conference for advisors, offers expanded content to empower support staff in all roles to take their learning to the next level. The conference offers sessions that draw on material presented at the year’s advisor-focused events and provides learning tracks for those who are in or who would like to grow into any of the following positions:

    • Paraplanner/analyst
    • Office manager
    • Sales/marketing support staff
    • Administrative assistant

Our 2008 symposium will be held August 4–5 at the Marriott in Newton, Massachusetts.
