Why do you like it at Commonwealth?
I love the fact that we’re all equal. My opinions and suggestions always count. I count as a person, as well as an employee. Sure, there are different levels and such, but overall, we’re all working together. Knowing and feeling this gives me the energy and the motivation to always keep giving.

Let me put it this way: when I’m asked, "What don’t you like about your job?" I usually hear myself answer, "the commute!" Okay, so the commute isn’t really part of my job, but I think that’s a pretty good explanation of how I feel about being here!

What makes this place so special?
The employees are the heart of the company. I’ve experienced firsthand the energy and the determination of the staff. What drives us all? I’m sure it’s different for everyone. But the motivation throughout the company is infectious. Ideas and suggestions are always pouring in. I always get the feeling that everyone is working toward a common goal, and we know that we will, in some way, be rewarded for our hard work.

Also, it’s the mutual respect for each other that makes me proud to work here. I’ve worked at places where nobody cares! Not for the company, not for their work, and especially not for each other. But here, everyone helps and supports each other.

Which of your Commonwealth accomplishments are you most proud of?
When I had the nerve to get up in front of the company and belt out a tune a cappella! Seriously though, that’s not so far from the truth. I’ve changed over the years. I’ve always been extremely shy and reserved. Through the many activities, seminars, and workshops offered by Commonwealth, I have been able to step outside my comfort zone. Being involved with Assist U, Centra, and other presentations are feats that I’m most proud of. Commonwealth has helped turn a nervous Nellie into someone with a bit more confidence to step into a management role.

What, if anything, have you learned about yourself being here at Commonwealth that you didn’t know before?
That change is inevitable; I can change right along and I won’t fall to pieces. Commonwealth is always looking for ways to improve, to grow, and to add to all the bits of wonderful it currently offers. It took a while to learn this lesson.
