SQL Developer
The Development department creates, builds, and maintains software applications to help everyone associated with Commonwealth work more efficiently.

As a SQL developer, your responsibilities would include:
- Creating and altering stored procedures, functions, triggers, and other SQL database objects that assist in the implementation of business logic and data flows through Commonwealth’s data and application infrastructure
- Ensuring that the integrity of company databases is maintained
- Monitoring and troubleshooting SQL jobs, DTS, and integration services
- Writing and creating data load scripts and stored procedures; ensuring that data is loaded in a timely manner daily
- Actively helping our Data Integrity team reconcile data
- Writing reports for the general business, as requested
- Taking part in disaster recovery planning
- Working with application developers to assist in database design, query tuning, index assignment, and trigger and procedure creation
- Implementing data models and database designs
The ideal candidate would also meet the following requirements:
- Excellent communication skills; works well in a team environment
- Minimum of 2–4 years of Microsoft SQL server experience on SQL 2000–2008
- Ability to write, troubleshoot, and performance tune stored procedures and triggers
- Ability to reverse engineer and understand code
- Familiarity with replication, disaster recovery practices, and other data redundancy technologies
- Experience with data warehousing
- Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field or equivalent work experience
- Ability to learn new technical skills easily and troubleshoot data-related issues and errors
- A solid understanding of relational and dimensional modeling
- Experience in the financial sector, a plus
Specific skills:
- SQL 2005, SQL 2008
- Managing multiple SQL instances on Active/Active Microsoft Cluster Servers (32 and 64 bit)
- Microsoft Report Services
- SSIS
- Converting DTS packages to SSIS
- Stored procedure writing
